MathSifu Instinct 速算班
Calculate fluently. Free your mind to think.
When every calculation takes effort, keeping track of a larger problem becomes harder.
MathSifu Instinct develops accurate, efficient calculation through number relationships, practical methods, and structured training.

✽ The Real Problem
When arithmetic keeps interrupting the thinking.
Your child may understand how to approach a question, yet lose time or make mistakes while carrying out calculations.
They might:
- Work slowly through calculations they encounter repeatedly.
- Lose track of a multi-step solution while handling the arithmetic.
- Rush to keep up, then spend time correcting errors.
- Rely on one method even when a simpler approach is available.
Calculation fluency gives them more attention for the problem-solving itself.
Work with numbers. Recognize the structure.
Instinct teaches students to recognize place value, and useful number patterns, then apply methods that makes calculations more manageable.
The aim is to combine speed, accuracy and efficiency all together. Faster wrong answers are not progress.
✽ What We Offer
Two phases.
A clear purpose for each.
Rebuilding the 4 Operations
Build a reliable base across the four operations.
Develop left-to-right calculation methods, place-value awareness, and fluency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Students work with increasingly demanding calculations through guided teaching and targeted practice.
12 weeks · SGD 599
Phase 1 can be taken on its own.
Further Multiplication and Division Mastery
Expand the repertoire. Choose methods more intelligently.
Build on Phase 1 with multiplication strategies, number patterns, squaring methods, square and cube recall, and divisibility tests.
Mixed practice helps students recognise which method fits each calculation.
12 weeks · SGD 599
Entry requires successful completion of Phase 1.
Each phase is purchased separately.
Training that continues in between lessons.
Each phase includes:
- 12 weekly, 90-minute online sessions.
- Small classes capped at 8 students.
- Targeted worksheets and independent practice.
- A midpoint parent progress discussion.
- Baseline and final calculation assessments, with before-and-after papers comparing accuracy and completion time.
The Instinct companion app organises practice by technique and progressive levels, helping students build fluency before tackling mixed challenges.
Live lessons develop the methods. Regular practice makes them stick.

Is Instinct suitable for my child?
Instinct is designed for upper-primary students whose calculation fluency needs development.
Students should have a working foundation in basic addition, subtraction, and multiplication tables. A suitability check helps establish whether they are ready for the training or need foundational support first.
Instinct focuses on calculation. It is not a full syllabus course or a word-problem programme.
If the main difficulty is understanding concepts or planning solutions, a different MathSifu offer may be a better starting point.
敏:One discipline within a bigger vision.
MathSifu develops mathematical mastery through 数学六易:
智 · 敏 · 心 · 思 · 體 · 技
Fluent calculation supports mathematical thinking. It works alongside conceptual understanding, structured problem-solving, steady learning habits, and precise execution.
You can join Instinct as a standalone programme. You do not need to purchase MasterPlan or join Term first.
FAQ
Is this an abacus programme?
No. Instinct focuses on number relationships and practical calculation methods without requiring an abacus.
Will it teach problem-solving?
That is not the main purpose. Instinct develops calculation fluency. MasterPlan focuses on structuring the approach to word problems.
Must we commit to both phases?
Although highly encouraged, it is not compulsory. Each phase is sold separately. Students can complete Phase 1 without purchasing Phase 2.
Does it guarantee better exam grades?
No. Calculation is one part of mathematical performance. Instinct develops and assesses specific calculation skills; exam results also depend on understanding, problem-solving, and other factors.
